Tips and Trouble-shooting Help for the Motorola Android.

  1. Saving Pictures

    In order to save pictures from messages, simply open the message with the picture, then tap the image and hold for a couple seconds. It will shortly come up with a menu for Message Options.
  2. Save Web Pictures

    In order to save a picture from the web, tap and hold that picture and select “save”.
  3. Changing Wallpaper

    To change the Wallpaper on your Motorola Droid, begin at the Droid homepage, go to "Menu", "Wallpaper", then "Pictures". Simply tap on the picture you desire for your wallpaper.
  4. Copy / Paste

    In order to use the Copy/Paste function, select a text field, then go to Edit Text, then Copy/Paste.
  5. Select A Single Word

    In order to copy/paste a single word, double click that word. Then you can use the method in tip number 9 to copy/paste.
  6. Quick Launch

    While holding the home button, the Motorola Droid will bring up a list of the six most recently used applications. This feature can save you a lot of time.
  7. Transfer Files Via USB

    In order to transfer files between your SD card and your computer, it can be done very quickly by connecting the USB cable, then selecting USB Storage, then Mount from the menu.
  8. Control Wi-Fi, GPS, Connectivity

    If you keep the home button pressed, then select “Widget Power Control” from the menu. This efficient widget will allow you to quickly change brightness and turn off connectivity options.
  9. Power Control Widget

    Start from the Home screen and hit the Menu "button", then hit Add, then Widgets, then Power Control. To remove a widget, click and drag it to the slider bar at the bottom, which becomes a trash can while dragging.
  10. Hide the Keypad

    The keypad that appears on your screen can be hidden by sliding it down. In order to bring up the keypad, simply tap the field.
  11. Negative Effects of Magnets

    The Motorola Droid will switch to “car mode” when in close proximity with magnets. "Car Mode" requires more of your battery.
  12. Use Phone Number

    When you receive an email or an SMS with a phone number, simply click and hold that number to bring up a menu. This menu will allow you send an SMS to it, save the number, etc.
  13. Set An MP3 Ringtone

    In order to use an mp3 file as a ringtone, begin by uploading the song, then, while it is playing go to Menu, the hit Set As Ring Tone. The song will now be set as your new ringtone.
  14. Vibrate Functions

    In order to toggle the vibrate ringtone option, go to "sound settings" and check/uncheck the "vibrate" box.
  15. Quick Silence

    There are two very easy ways to quickly silence your Motorola Droid. On the swipe screen, swipe the little speaker icon from right to left and that will put the phone in silence mode. Another way to do it is to press the volume down button until it is completely silent. Press the volume up button once to put it in vibrate.
  16. Perform A Voice Search

    Simply hold down the search button to use the voice search, (the magnifying glass icon) and wait until the “voice search” menu is brought up.
  17. Website Shortcuts

    To bookmark and add a shortcut on the homescreen for a particular website, begin by bookmarking that website, then go back to the home screen, tap anywhere and hold it down. A menu will appear that will give instructions for creating the desired shortcut.
  18. Pinpoint Locations

    In order to pinpoint the location of an address sent to you via e-mail, simply click and hold that address to search for it in Google Maps.
  19. Hard Reset

    If you wish clear all the data off of the Motorola Droid, you must hard reset the device. To do this, begin by turning off the Droid (If it won't turn off, remove and replace the battery), then open the keyboard and press the "X" key while pressing and holding "Power". Continue to hold the buttons while the Motorola Droid turns on, wait until a yellow triangle appears. After that, press the "Camera" and "Volume Up" buttons at the same time to get to the menu, then use the direction pad to the right of the keyboard to select the "Format" option.
  20. Clear Chat History

    Begin at the chat that you wish to clear, press "Menu", "More", then "Clear Chat History"
  21. YouTube Not Updating?

    Begin by opening the "Settings" menu, tap "Applications", then "Manage Applications". From there, press "Menu", "Filter", then "All". Find "YouTube" in this menu, tap "Clear Cache", then "Force Stop".
  22. Set Ringtone To Specific Contact

    In order to set the ringtone to a particular contact, begin by opening the "Contacts" menu, then tap on the contact you wish to set the ringtone to, press "Menu", "Options", then "Ringtone".
  23. Battery Use Monitoring

    The Motorola Droid has the ability to track battery usage. Begin at "Settings", "About Phone", then "Battery Use". Most often, the highest battery usage is from the display. An easy way to prolong your battery is to turn down the screen brightness.
  24. Uninstall Applications

    To uninstall an application, start from the home screen, go to "Menu", "Settings", "Applications", then "Manage Applications". From there, tap on the application you wish to remove and select the "Uninstall Option".
